Christian aid Week - 10th to 16th May 2026
Sunday marks the start of 2026 Christian Aid week and again the red envelopes are here. Christian Aid is an international charity, founded by churches in Britain and Northern Ireland more than 80 years ago. With partners and communities in Africa, Asia, Europe, the Middle East, Latin America and the Caribbean we’re supporting people experiencing poverty, and those affected by humanitarian emergencies. By turning our hope into action, we’re helping to build a fairer, more peaceful world.
This year’s national theme is help for people in urban poverty in Nairobi, Kenya, where people are being helped with tools and training to farm vegetables in small city plots to feed their families and earn a small income. Please take a look at the poster in the Hall of Friendship.
At the Barn we will again offer each person an envelope at Sunday’s service. If you feel you can, please either put something in or bring it back next Sunday, and put in the labelled box provided in the foyer for that purpose. If you are a UK taxpayer please also consider filling in the tear off Gift Aid form attached to the envelope, giving as a minimum your full name, first line of address, and postcode: this is because they are digitally read. You can, of course, also give on line at caweek.org if you prefer; although this will not be counted in Culloden and Ardersoer’s total giving, it remains a valid way of donating.
Thank you on behalf of the poor of the world. DBR
Every Moment Live - Sunday 17 May, 6.00pm-7.00pm, Culduthel Christian Centre, Invenress. Every Moment Holy Live is an event that weaves songs, liturgies from the EMH books, and personal stories into a shared journey for artists and audience. The event is structured as a continuous narrative arc, intended to carve out a space in which participants might acknowledge the reality of losses, disappointments, and sorrows in their own lives, even while being reawakened and reoriented to the greater story of divine redemption in which our own stories and struggles are set. Blending theological depth with artistic beauty, the Every Moment Holy Live event is created to meet each of us where we are on our pilgrimage toward the eternal city, and to remind us again of who we are, of who God is, and of where this is all going, resulting in a renewal of hope, faith, consolation and encouragement that ultimately finds its best expression in a joy-filled worship.
The event is free but donations will be collected to help cover the costs of bringing this event to Inverness, at the door, or by clicking on this link
Blythswood’s Day of Prayer takes place on Wednesday, the 3rd of June. This year, we are inviting you to set aside 60 minutes to give thanks for 60 years of Blythswood. You may choose to do this on your own, as a family, with friends, or as part of your church’s prayer meeting. The 60 minutes can be spent all at once or spread throughout the day. I attach a copy of the guide for the day that contains information and points for prayer that could be helpful to you. By taking part in our Day of Prayer, you will be joining people from around the world in prayer for Blythswood.
The 2026 Shoebox appeal is well under way. If you can help with donating any item this would be appriciated. There is a box and list of items required in the Hall of Friendship.
There is also a box for items wanted by the Highland foodbank.
